Piercing, especially high-end fine jewelry piercing, demands education, trust, and precision. Online shoppers needed to feel confident selecting the correct size, style, and placement without confusion. The platform had to clearly communicate how pieces would look when worn, how they functioned anatomically, and how to care for them.

At the same time, each physical location required unique media, a dedicated piercer roster, and seamless booking functionality. With tattoos declining and lower-cost piercing alternatives rising in popularity, particularly among Gen Z, we needed to create a simple yet elevated digital experience that removed friction and made taking action effortless.

The challenge was balancing clarity and conversion with a premium, fashion-forward aesthetic.

I led the effort to elevate Iris’s digital presence into a clean, modern, and high-end experience that matched the quality of their jewelry and studio environments.

We architected a comprehensive, scalable Shopify structure that could easily expand to support new locations and piercers. The site architecture allowed for flexible highlighting of collections, individual products, studio teams, and educational content, including aftercare guidance and jewelry selection resources. Every layer of the experience was designed to support both growth and trust.

What We Did:

To reinforce a refined brand aesthetic, we implemented a predominantly monochromatic color palette paired with a modern sans-serif typographic system anchored by Graphik. The restrained design language allowed product photography and video content to take center stage.

Video became a core storytelling device. We incorporated motion into homepage heroes, product loops, and individual product pages to demonstrate scale, shine, movement, and real-life wear. Rollover states and alternate media views gave shoppers immediate visual clarity without requiring heavy reading or guesswork.

We structured product pages to reduce confusion around sizing and placement, pairing visual education with streamlined purchasing pathways.

On the booking side, we created a fluid multi-location system that allowed users to easily select their city, view the piercer roster, explore shop-specific media, and schedule appointments with ease.

Throughout the experience, we emphasized Iris’s growing national footprint, subtly reinforcing brand credibility and positioning the studio as an emerging leader in the fine jewelry piercing space.

Results:

Iris now operates with a scalable digital flagship that supports nationwide growth across ecommerce and in-studio bookings. The platform provides the infrastructure to onboard new locations, hire additional piercers, expand collections, and educate clients without compromising brand cohesion.
